School History
  • Founded in 1965 by Immaculate Heart of Mary, named St. James Kindergarten.
  • Moved to Ka Wing Street in 1990 and renamed St. James Catholic Kindergarten.
  • Registered as local non-profit-making Kindergarten and received Direct Subsidy under the monitoring of the Education Bureau in Sept 1996.
  • Handed over to Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan Schools Council in Sept 2000.
School Characteristics
  • Awarded the 1st Outstanding Life Education Teaching Plan in 2020. It was organised by the Education University of Hong Kong. 
  • Awarded the Outstanding Award of the First Hong Kong Green Pre-school Award in 2004. Our school has a spacious organic plantation area in order to provide life, environmental, and farming education to children. Through farming activities, we teach children to respect and cherish life and to build up positive values in their lives.
  • Awarded the Silver Award of the Healthy Schools (Pre-school) Award Scheme in the Academic Year 2015-2016. This scheme helps us to increase staff, parents and children’s awareness and understanding of the importance of a healthy life.
  • The school has passed the Quality Review conducted by the Education Bureau in 2022. The school was highly recognized in promoting school development and making improvements progressively. The school have established a good communication and relationship with the parents. The school incorporates moral education into the school curriculum. The values of responsibility, caring and respect for others are included in order to nurture the children with good behaviors. The teacher observes children’s needs and learning progress in order to provide individual support. Children are able to take care themselves, freely to express and get along with others.
School Curriculum

          Early childhood is an important stage in life. The experiences learned in this stage establish a profound influence on child‘s personality formation, intellectual development, and interpersonal relationships etc.. Each child is unique. They have their own characteristics, interests, potential and needs. Each of them should be loved and respected. 
          Children learn though different learning corners chosen by themselves in order to promote children’s self- learning. This helps children develop their whole person; spiritually, physically, intelligently, linguistically, emotionally, cooperatively, and creatively. Teachers make use of small group activities and lively teaching skills to enhance children’s learning in English and Putonghua effectively. We use picture books to design experiential learning activities, nurturing children to develop good reading habits from an early age.
